Senior researcher Gregor Giebel and senior researcher Xiaoli Guo Larsén both won a poster award at the WindEurope Offshore Conference in Copenhagen.
Gregor Giebel won an award for a poster on ‘State of the art and research gaps in wind farm control – results of a recent workshop’. It was a proud Gregor Giebel, who received the award:
“I have been waiting for this for 25 years. It’s the first time, I have won this award,” he said with a smile and the award in his hands.
Gregor Giebel wrote the poster together with Tuhfe Göçmen from DTU Wind Energy, Jan-Willem van Wingerden from TU Delft, as well as Paul Fleming and Jennifer King, both from NREL.

Xiaoli Guo Larsén won an award for her poster on ‘Linking calculation of wakes from offshore wind farm cluster to the Danish power integration system’. She too was very proud:
“Thank you very much. This is an honour,” she said. Afterwards she mentioned, that she was the only woman to receive the award this year.
Xiaoli Guo Larsén wrote her poster together with fellow DTU Wind Energy colleagues as well as researchers from Vattenfall and WageningenUniversity.
The posters have been selected by a committee presided by Stephan Barth, Managing Director of ForWind, on behalf of the European Academy of Wind Energy (EAWE).
Gregor Giebel and Xiaoli Guo Larsén received their poster awards at a ceremony on Thursday 28 November at 10:15-10:45.
Altogether, seven posters won an award, and more than 230 posters were submitted, Stephan Barth mentioned at the beginning of the ceremony.
